Celebrating Birthdays

I wonder how many couples share birthdays back-to-back? Well, we do! February 7th was my birthday and the best gift was able to go home from the hospital that morning after surgery last week. There's nowhere else quite like the comforts of home and we were blessed with friends, gifts and food!

Jun & Linda stopped by to drop off some lovely flowers, a bottle of wine, cupcakes and gifts. The cupcakes were adorable with Happy Birthday Russ and Happy Birthday Kanae frosted on top. Thank you again, Jun & Lin! We love you guys!
Heejung had also stopped by to drop off her special vegetable congee. It was just what I wanted to eat: rice porridge. The Japanese, Korean and Chinese cultures share the same type of recipe for one of the healing foods that moms prepare for sick family members. Thank you, Heejung! Later in the evening, Jake & Jackie came to share dinner and dessert with us. Thank you, Van Dams!
Russ was happy to get a Wii for his birthday~ something he thought I would never get him. Because it's a different type of video game and not the kind that you just shoot & kill, the interactive nature of Wii will both of us entertained in the coming weeks and months.
Angela sourced out a chocolate birthday cake for Russ from Marge's kitchen. It was yummy! Both of us are a year old and hopefully a year wiser. I'd like to thank everyone who sent flowers, food, emails, cards, gifts and visits to our home and at CHC. It is awesome to know that we have such amazing and kind friends. Love to you all!

Happy Birthday Russ and Kanae! It was nice to talk with Russ a little bit last weekend. Kanae, you are in our prayers--hope your recovery continues to be quick and smooth.
