Tagaman Triathlon - 2km swim, 60km bike, 15km run

PIC again hosted the 21st Annual Tagaman Triathlon this past Saturday. There were over 130 participants who competed individually or in teams. Registration in the game room began at 4am! Here, Mieko smiles as she gets her number, "10", marked on her arm.

Hiroko san visits yearly to volunteer her time and energy to organize the event. It is wonderful to have her here as she is so organized, friendly and knowledgeable. We spotted Seungjin, a former Saipan Swim Club swimmer, who is now a RN in the army, stationed in Germany. It's great to see the kids all grown up and doing well in life.
Mike Vine, the Canadian pro, stayed in our home for almost two weeks. He had a great swim and run but lost to Sam Gardner by less than a minute.
Renata loves Saipan and this year marks her 6th visit to the races. She placed third this year, but won the coveted PIC Double Award for achieving the fastest combined time for both races.
Congratulations, Sam for his successful win in the Tagaman! He also won the PIC Double Award.

Sam and fellow Englishman, Michael, posing in their high-tech helmets!
Don't they look fast just wearing them?
My two favorite female triathletes: Mieko & Renata! They did so well in both races!
The Tagaman Awards would not be the same without MC Jon with his disco-wear and wig!
Some of the participants are now going to Guam this week to compete in the XTERRA there.
Good luck to all!
