Easter Sunday in England

Happy Easter Sunday! Today was another stepping stone moment when we went out to the Harborne St. John's church for Easter service. Russ managed to get in and out of the taxis and ambled around the church with ease. St. John's Church is a congregation of the Church of England and we immediately felt comfortable with the cozy surroundings. There about 200 people in attendance to the 9:15am family morning service. Over half were small children and they got to sit down in front, participate in the skits on stage and play with tambourines during the worship songs. The majority of the worship songs were familiar as the same ones we sing at Saipan Community Church. The sermon was succinct ~ about 15 minutes and the pastor involved the kids as well. For communion, there were several lines and one area offered non-alcoholic "wine" and gluten-free bread. The regular communion served pieces from rolls and a sweet wine.

We arrived early so that we could find a seat at the end of a row.  Russ did really well and after service, we stayed a few minutes for coffee/tea time. We were happy to participate in service today. Tomorrow morning, we'll get packed and ready to go off to visit Uncle Paul and Aunt Jayne at their home in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  Should be a wonderful change of scenery from the city to the countryside.
