On Sunday, we went to the World Marriage Day mass at Santa Soledad Church in Kagman to honor the Longest Married Couple in the CNMI, Mr. & Mrs. Juan & Mercedes Aguon. They've been married 59 years! Father Ike granted the couple a special blessing and allowed all of us to renew our vow again.
Afterwards, we went to the Hyatt Saipan for their infamous Sunday brunch. We were invited by newlyweds, Micah and Hyun Jae, who were just married last month.
For dessert, I enjoyed a selection of goodies including fresh strawberries, coconut mochi filled with peanuts, sesame balls with azuki bean and a traditional apple pie. For lent, I've decided to give up sweets for 40 days. Many of our ME friends are Catholic and practice the tradition of lent where they give up something that's considered an idol or bad habit whether it's a type of food, drinks, cigarettes, internet, etc. Lent is a 40 day time period that allows us to sacrifice something that we like for Jesus. If He gave up His life for us, we can certainly give up something for Him and be healthier for it.
The Hyatt had nice decorations in the restaurants. This year is the Year of the Snake!
