Summer starts with Sommer

Friday was the start I'd summer so Sommer (age 9) and I worked on our vegetable, fruit and herb garden. She wrote out the list on Wednesday at her birthday party and we decided to meet at 10:30am on Friday, the first day of her summer vacation. She told me that she woke up at 5:00am because she was excited for the morning's work. How cute! i picked her up and we came back to my house. We managed to get a lot done.

We made a plan and then worked the plan by
- preparing lemongrass, spinach & rosemary for Sommer's garden
- cutting down some banana trees to make way for more vegetables
- leveling the dirt in the garden bed and this dirt mound
- picking up the fertilizer in the yard
- picking out the rocks from the garden bed
- planting mongo bean, soybean and lemon seeds in plastic cups

Next week, we go to Sommer's house up the street to work in her family's yard. At harvest, we'll enjoy a big salad together! Our goal is grow some of our own food. Let's see how it goes!
